Lucknow: Taking moral responsibility for the defeat in the assembly elections, UP Pradesh Congress President Ajay Kumar Lallu has resigned from his post. Ajay Kumar Lallu thanked the party leadership and said that thanks to the top leadership for reposing faith in a common worker like me. He further said that as an activist, he will continue to fight for the rights of the common man. Ajay Kumar Lallu also said that he takes full responsibility for the defeat in the UP elections.
Regarding the UP elections, Lallu said that we kept fighting over the issues in the elections. But in a democracy, the people are almighty and their decision is the final decision. Lallu said that he would keep trying to win the trust of the voters. Regarding Priyanka Gandhi, he said that it was a good experience to work with Priyanka Gandhi, he will try to do better in the 2024 general elections.
Lallu said that we will try to eliminate the gaps at the basic level so that the elections can be fought with full vigor in 2024. He also said that he will continue to raise the basic issues of UP and fight for it.
On the other hand, the Congress leadership has also started brainstorming about the crushing defeat in five states. Sonia Gandhi has asked the presidents of state units of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur to submit their resignations so that the committees can be reconstituted. Significantly, in UP, the Congress won only two seats. Ajay Kumar Lallu lost the election from Tamkuhiraj seat. He had to face defeat by more than 74 thousand votes and he came in third place.
