The Kerala Congress has come on the back foot regarding a tweet made about the recently released film ‘The Kashmir Files’ on Jammu and Kashmir. Leader of Opposition in Kerala Legislative Assembly and Congress leader VD Satheesan on Monday said he was not aware of the tweet regarding the film ‘The Kashmir Files’, but assured that the matter would be investigated.
The Congress leader said, ‘We have no information about it. The Kerala Congress or the UDF in Kerala never discussed such a matter on this film in any forum. I will check with the concerned authority. We will inquire and take action. In fact, Kerala Congress claimed in a tweet that more Muslims were killed than Pandits in J&K during 1990-2007.
The tweet by Kerala Congress said, “Facts about Kashmiri Pandits: It was the terrorists who targeted the Pandits. In the last 17 years (1990-2007), 399 Pandits have been killed in terror attacks. The number of Muslims killed by terrorists in the same period is 15,000. This tweet was later deleted as well.
At the same time, in another tweet, the Kerala Congress claimed that more than one lakh Muslims were killed in Jammu and Kashmir in the post-Partition communal riots. While no Pandit was killed in the retaliatory action. Another tweet claimed that Jagmohan, the then governor of J&K, was an RSS man, and instead of providing security to the Pandits, he asked them to leave the Valley en masse.
