The war between the Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP has intensified over the postponement of Delhi MCD Election 2022. Reversing the allegations of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Union Minister Smriti Irani attacked him fiercely. Smriti Irani alleged that Kejriwal deliberately withholds the funds of MCD, due to which the work of municipal corporations gets hampered.
Defending the Centre’s move, Smriti Irani said that Kejriwal himself would stand against the reforms of the municipal corporations in Delhi, which perhaps the citizens of Delhi would never have imagined, but the citizens of Delhi have also seen that when Kejriwal 13,000 crores was kept with the municipal corporation in 7 years so that the corporations fail in their functions.
He asked whether Kejriwal would answer that why he has kept the funds of sanitation workers, sanitation arrangements in Delhi within the periphery of the corporation? Why is Kejriwal sitting with the money for the maintenance of parks in Delhi where children are willing to play?
Kejriwal has done the work of adding to the troubles of the people of Delhi by depriving the Municipal Corporation, the strongest unit of democracy, by depriving it of Rs 13,000 crore. They are requested to allow development work to be done till the slums of the poor, let the reform work be done.
Along with this, he also said that it is ridiculous that the AAP which got less votes than NOTA in UP, the Aam Aadmi Party which forfeited its deposit in 55 out of 70 seats in Uttarakhand and got only 6% votes in Goa, that party. The leader of Arvind Kejriwal is taking a dig at the country’s prime minister.
BJP postponing municipal elections fearing defeat: Kejriwal
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to allow municipal elections to be held in the capital. He said postponing elections weakens the democratic system. The Delhi State Election Commission on Wednesday deferred the announcement of dates for South Delhi Municipal Corporation, North Delhi Municipal Corporation and East Delhi Municipal Corporation elections here after receiving a communication from the Center about the merger of municipal corporations. It had said that it would seek legal advice on the issue of holding elections following the Centre’s plan to bring in a bill for the amalgamation of the three municipal corporations of Delhi.
Kejriwal asked that the public is questioning this move. The Center is in power for the last seven-eight years, why didn’t they integrate them earlier?
