Alert after action on terrorist bases, canceled more than 300 flight

In response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India destroyed nine hideouts of Pakistani terrorists on Wednesday morning. The country’s security forces are on high alert since then. The precautionary 25 airports have been temporarily closed. Due to this, more than 300 flights have been canceled. Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, Air India Express, Akasa Air and some foreign airlines have canceled their services from several airports.

News agency PTI quoted sources as saying that at least 25 airports have been temporarily closed in the northern and western parts of the country. These airports include Srinagar, Leh, Jammu, Amritsar, Pathankot, Chandigarh, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Shimla, Dharamshala and Jamnagar. At the same time, the airlines have canceled more than 300 flights from various airports.

The most impact on indigo

IndiGo has canceled more than 165 flights from various domestic airports including Amritsar and Srinagar till the morning of May 10 due to airspace ban. Sources said about 140 flights of Air India and Air India Express have been canceled. The airline said, “Air India flights to Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh and Rajkot are being canceled till 5:29 pm Indian time on May 10, as aviation officials have issued a notification to close these airports.”

Full refund of ticket will be available

Air India also said in a post on X that during this period, passengers who take tickets for the journey will not have to pay any charge on booking tickets again. Full refund will also be available on cancellation of tickets. IndiGo said, “Due to government notification on airspace sanctions, many airports (Amritsar, Bikaner, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, Gwalior, Jammu, Jodhpur, Kishangarh, Leh, Rajkot and Srinagar) have been canceled by more than 165 flights of IndiGo on 10 May 2025 by 5:29 pm on Indian time on 10 May 2025. The airline also said that passengers whose flights have been affected can redeemn the booking on the next available flight or option to cancel their booking without any additional cost, and they will be given full refund. IndiGo operates around 2,200 flights daily.

In an update on X, SpiceJet said that due to the current situation, the flights from Leh, Srinagar, Jammu, Dharamshala, Kandla and Amritsar have been canceled till 5:29 am on May 10. It states that the affected passengers can opt for the second flight according to the complete refund or availability. On Wednesday, around 140 flights from Delhi Airport were canceled by various airlines, including foreign airlines. Of these, 65 flights were coming to Delhi, while 66 were going to leave from here.
