Announcement of new manufacturing units
Revealing the plan, Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran said that jobs will be created in manufacturing of batteries, semiconductors, electric vehicles (EVs), solar equipment and other hardware products. These products will play a fundamental role in the future economy.
Main projects include:
Semiconductor Fab: India’s first semiconductor manufacturing plant in Dholera, Gujarat. Semiconductor OSAT Plant: Under construction in Assam. Electronics Assembly Unit: At Narasapura, Karnataka. Automotive Plant: At Panapakkam, Tamil Nadu. Battery Cell Factories: Sanand in Gujarat and Somerset in UK. Solar module production: In Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu.
Electronics will be cheaper
With these schemes, the cost of manufacturing electronics items in India will reduce. Consumers will benefit from this, due to which the prices of devices like mobiles, laptops, solar panels can be reduced.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and economic progress
