Mumbai,The Crime Branch Unit 12 of the Mumbai Police has arrested four accused, busting a fake call center running in Dahisar area. According to the police, these people were cheating American citizens by making them their victims. The gang cheated American citizens as a problem in Microsoft Windows.
Based on the information received from the sources, the Mumbai Police raided the Arpan apartment, where the illegal call center was running. During the raid, the police seized 6 laptops, 20 mobile phones, 2 Wi-Fi routers, 6 speakers and about 2 lakh 41 thousand rupees from the spot.
The Crime Branch has registered a case under the IT Act and related sections of the Indian Penal Code in this case. The accused were produced in the court, from where they have been sent to police custody by 24 February.
It was told that through the call center, American citizens were told that there is a major problem in their computer software. He was assured that he was talking to Microsoft and then information about his bank accounts was taken through phone calls.
The arrested accused include the main accused Tilak Joshi (44 years), Amir Reddy (25 years), Jeevan Navarkar (23 years) and first Sonawane (22 years). The police has started further investigation into the matter and is also trying to find out how big a network of this gearh is.
