Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) on Sunday released its manifesto for the Maharashtra Assembly elections. MVA leaders, led by Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, released a manifesto giving ‘five guarantees’ for Maharashtra, including conducting a caste census in the state.
The Maha Vikas Aghadi comprises the Congress, Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT), and Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (SCP).
The launch event held in Mumbai included Nationalist Congress Party (SCP) leader Supriya Sule, Congress general secretary KC Venugopal, Congress election in-charge for Maharashtra Ramesh Chennithala, state Congress chief Nana Patole, Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders Sanjay Raut and Arvind Sawant among others. participated.
The MVA has promised to conduct a caste-based census and remove the 50 percent cap on reservation. Under the Mahalakshmi scheme, the MVA has pledged to provide financial assistance of Rs 3000 every month as well as free bus travel to women in the state.
The opposition alliance has also promised to waive off farm loans and provide health insurance worth Rs 25 lakh to farmers.
Speaking on the occasion, Kharge said, “Our 5 guarantees will help in the welfare of everyone in Maharashtra. Each family will get an annual assistance of around Rs 3 lakh. Our Mahalakshmi scheme will provide financial assistance to all women, who will be given Rs 3000 every month. We will start a free bus service for the women of Maharashtra.”
“We will give an amount of Rs 50,000 to every farmer who repays his loan on time,” the Congress president said during the programme.
As the elections for 288 assembly seats are approaching, the political fight between the two major alliances, Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), is intensifying.
Earlier, the Bharatiya Janata Party released its manifesto for the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra, promising a total of 25 assurances to the people of the state if voted to power for another term.
Voting will take place on November 20 and counting will take place on November 23.
