The cabinet today approved a 2 percent increase in dearness allowance (DA) for central government employees. Along with this, the increase in inflation relief (DR) for pensioners was also approved. Giving information about this, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that increased dearness allowance and inflation relief will be applicable from January 1, 2025. This decision of the government will benefit 48.66 lakh employees and 66.55 lakh pensioners of the central government. How much dearness allowance is available now
The Center has decided to increase dearness allowance for government employees from 53 percent to 55 percent. Keeping in mind inflation, the government has taken a big step for its employees and pensioners. Let us tell you that dearness allowance is paid on the basic salary of employees. Suppose you are a government employee and your basic salary is Rs 20,000. You are given 53 percent dearness allowance of basic salary of Rs 20,000. 53 percent of Rs 20,000 is Rs 10,600. That is, you get a dearness allowance of Rs 10,600 on the basic salary of Rs 20,000. Let us tell you that employees are paid salary as well as dearness allowance every month.
How much salary will increase after increasing DA
Now the government has increased dearness allowance by 2 percent to 55 percent. Therefore, now 55 percent dearness allowance will be available on the basic salary of Rs 20,000. 55 percent of Rs 20,000 is Rs 11,000. That is, you get a dearness allowance of Rs 10,600 on the basic salary of Rs 20,000, which will increase to Rs 11,000. In this way your monthly salary will increase by Rs 400. Keep in mind that the increase in your salary will depend on your basic salary. The higher your basic salary, the more increase in your salary.
