JaipurThe BJP government of Rajasthan has abolished nine districts created during the tenure of former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. This includes Shahpura, Neemkathana, Jodhpur Rural, Jaipur Rural, Sanchore, Dudu, Kekdi, Gangapur City, Anupgarh districts. The BJP government has not made any changes in eight districts.
On this entire issue, Rajasthan Government Law Minister Jogaram Patel said that the previous government had taken decisions from a political perspective, the consequences of which they had to suffer. We have thoroughly reviewed the decision we have taken. During the review it was found that it is not right to keep these districts. The districts which should have been kept in public interest, have been kept. Those who were not suitable for public interest have not been kept at present.
Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies Sumit Godara said that eight districts will remain unchanged. He said that there were 26 districts in Rajasthan in the year 1956 and only seven districts increased in 67 years. There were total 33 districts. But what was the reason that when the Gehlot government was the Chief Minister, it did not create even a single new district in its two terms. In the third term, not a single district was created in the last four years, but in the last year of the term, 20 districts were announced before the elections.
Former Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot posted on social media platform X. In the post, he wrote that the BJP government’s decision to cancel 9 districts out of the new districts created by our government is an example of imprudence and mere political vendetta. During our government, a committee was formed on 21 March 2022 under the chairmanship of senior administrative officer Ramlubhaya to reorganize the districts, which received reports from dozens of districts. After examining these reports, the committee gave its report, on the basis of which the decision to create new districts was taken.
