Mumbai, 7 December (IANS). Famous filmmaker and director Subhash Ghai was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai on Saturday evening after his health suddenly deteriorated.
According to the information, the 79-year-old filmmaker was admitted to the hospital this evening, where his condition is said to be critical. He is currently undergoing treatment in ICU.
Subhash Ghai was born on 24 January 1945 in Nagpur, Maharashtra. He wanted to become an actor since childhood, but fate established him as a brilliant director. After Raj Kapoor, he is called the second ‘show man’ of the industry.
Subhash Ghai is a well-known producer and director of Hindi cinema. In the year 2006, he was also honored with the National Award for the social film ‘Iqbal’.
Subhash Ghai is the first producer of Bollywood, who started a film insurance policy through his film Taal. He is also credited with introducing the concept of financing films through banks.
His first film as an actor was Takdeer which came in 1967. After this he worked in Aradhana (1970). In the same year, he was in the lead role in Umang.
In 1973, he started writing film stories and wrote scripts for directors like Prakash Mehra and Dulal Guha.
He gave many hit films like Ram Lakhan, Khalnayak, Hero and Karz. He started his career in 1976 with Kalicharan. After this, in 1978 he made Vishwanath. Two years later, in 1980, Karz came, which was his first film under the banner of Mukta Arts.
He did many experiments in Hindi cinema. He made Pakistani singer Reshma sing the song “Lambi Judai” in which only 11 instruments were used.
