New Delhi. Air India is going to make a big change regarding the food served to its passengers. According to the information, now Halal meat will not be served to Hindu and Sikh passengers traveling in Air India flights. Halal meat will be served only to Muslim passengers booked in advance under ‘Muslim Meal’ (MOML). Such food will be kept in the Special Category Food (SPML) category. Let us tell you that Muslim food served in flights which does not contain alcohol etc. is called MOML whereas food items falling in a particular category are called SPML.
This decision regarding change in food has been taken by Air India on Sunday itself. According to the airlines, this decision has been taken by the company keeping in mind the religious sentiments of the passengers. The airlines also say that all the food served on Hajj flights to Jeddah, Riyadh and Medina will be Halal certified.
What is Halal meat?
Halal is actually a way of slaughtering the animal. In Arabic language it means justified and according to Islam, eating only halal meat is considered justified. In this, the animals are not killed in one stroke but their jugular vein is cut, blood keeps coming out from their body and they gradually die. During this time, Muslim people read Tasmiya. The process of sacrificing animals in this way is called Halal.
cause of dispute
Congress raised the issue and raised the question that religious labeling is being done in food. Whereas Air India says that the reason behind this decision is that the religious sentiments of any passenger should not be hurt. The company believes that this decision will have a positive impact.
