Here 2000 voters are unable to vote in Panchayat elections, know the reason

Haldwani: Hundreds of people from Gaulapar Sultan Nagari in Haldwani, Uttarakhand have demanded the right to vote in the Panchayat elections. The villagers who reached the Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office for the protest along with local public representatives alleged that they used to vote in the Panchayat elections till the year 2008 and after that their right to vote was taken away.

vote in major elections
They vote in Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha, but their right to vote in Panchayat elections has been taken away. The villagers of Sultan Nagari have demanded from the administration that they should be given the right to vote again in the upcoming Panchayat elections. Otherwise, the villagers will be forced to launch a violent agitation. Let us tell you that about two thousand voters are deprived of the right.

Procession taken out till SDM court
The villagers of Gaulapar took out a procession from the Municipal Corporation to the SDM Court under the leadership of former BDC Arjun Singh Bisht. The villagers said that hundreds of families live in both the villages, which have about 2 thousand voters. The government has given the right to village lease, road, Anganwadi center, school, identity card etc. There is also a right to vote in the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, but the right to vote in the Panchayat elections has been taken away.

Due to this, villagers are not able to cast their votes in Panchayat elections. He said that due to this, there is a problem in carrying out development work. On which City Magistrate AP Vajpayee assured to take action soon and give voters their rights.

Know when the village was built
This village has been inhabited since 1957-58. Before 1981, Bagjala village was included in the Gram Sabha Devla Talla. In the year 1982-83, this village was recognized as a separate village. Where Gram Sabha Panjaya Bagjala was created. Then the villagers of this new village got the opportunity to represent the Gram Sabha and Kashi Ram, who occupied the land of this Gram Sabha, was elected the first Gram Pradhan and 6 Gram Sabha members were elected.

After delimitation the gram panchayat was separated
After the first five-year plan ended in the village, when the second five-year plan started in 1988-89, elections were held in this Gram Sabha, in which Gopal Singh Negi became the Pradhan. But in the year 2003-04, when the delimitation was done again, a Gram Sabha was formed in the name of Devla Talla Panjaya Bagjala, in which Yashpal Arya, a resident of Bagjala, was elected as the Gram Pradhan.

Villagers are troubled since 2019
After that, in the Gram Sabha elections held in 2008-09, Rekha Nagarkoti, a resident of village Bagjala, was again elected as the Pradhan. In the year 2013-14, Trilok Singh Naula was appointed as the Pradhan of the said Gram Sabha. Then in the survey of the Gram Panchayat of the year 2019, the survey of Gram Panchayat Devla Talla Panjaya Bagjala was stopped. Since then, the villagers are not able to cast their vote in the Panchayat elections.
