The issue of Municipal Corporation employees not getting their salaries on time and their struggle for it was also raised in the meeting of the Vice Chairman of the National Safai Karmachari Commission on Thursday. During this, Narendra Chaudhary alleged that the officials of Lion Company in the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh are taking work from the cleaning workers. But they are not paying their salaries on time. Even to get their salaries, the sanitation workers have to come on the road and struggle and protest. He told that the salary was never paid on time by Lion Company. According to the agreement made by the Municipal Corporation with the Lion Company, they should also get two holidays, which have not been given till date. Ever since the Lions Company started working in the Municipal Corporation, neither were they given holidays nor were they given raincoats and gum shoes during the rainy season till date.
The Vice Chairperson of the Safai Karmachari Commission listened very attentively and assured that an investigation would be conducted soon and strict action would be taken against the company. The Municipal Corporation Commissioner told the Commission that a letter has been issued to terminate the company.
