Chandigarh Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who was serving a 20 -year sentence for raping two of his disciples in Sunaria Jail in Rohtak, Haryana, was once again parked on Tuesday. This time 30 days parole has been found. This is the 12th parole of Ram Rahim Singh in the last four years.
In August 2017, he will stay in his camp for 10 days for the first time after being sentenced to 20 years in jail for raping two disciples.
Later he will live in Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh.
Ram Rahim was last given 20 days parole. This parole was given four days before the voting in Haryana on 5 October last year. Ram Rahim had the patronage of political leaders and parties of Punjab and Haryana for almost two decades due to his followers’ ability to influence votes.
The last time he sought parole, citing the death anniversary of his father Maghar Singh on 5 October, which is celebrated as Paramarthi Day.
Prior to October last year, the Haryana government gave him a 21 -day leave in August, which ended on 2 September.
Ram Rahim is currently lodged in Sunaria Jail with high security of Rohtak, 250 km from the state capital Chandigarh.
Earlier, the High Court had dismissed the parole’s petition for Ram Rahim’s adopted daughters to attend the wedding ceremony.
Ram Rahim was sentenced to 20 years in jail in August 2017 in the case of raping two women.
In 2019, a special CBI court in Panchkula sentenced him and three others to life imprisonment for the murder of a journalist 16 years ago.
Violence erupted in Panchkula and Sirsa after being convicted on 25 August 2017, killing 41 people and injured more than 260.
