Jay Shah: The dominance of the Board of Control for Cricket in India is now going to be fully visible in international cricket, as now the responsibility of the ICC has come on the shoulders of BCCI secretary Jay Shah. Jay Shah, who has been working with the board as secretary for the last several years, has now been elected as the new chairman of the ICC. Jay Shah was unanimously appointed as the new chairman of the ICC on Tuesday, and he will now take charge from December 1.
Jay Shah became the next chairman of ICC unopposed
Performing an astonishing feat in the cricket administration sector, Jay Shah was appointed the chairman of the ICC at the age of just 35, with which he has registered the record of becoming the youngest chairman of the ICC. Jay Shah got one-sided support during the voting, where he was supported by big boards like Cricket Australia and England and Wales Cricket Board and he easily became the chairman.
Jai Shah secured 15 out of 16 votes without Pakistan’s support
Jay Shah’s magic will now be seen in the ICC. The ICC Champions Trophy to be hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board is also going to be held during the tenure of Jay Shah, so the road will not be so easy for Pakistan now. Anyway, Pakistan had no role in making Jay Shah the chairman of the ICC, where 15 out of 16 cricket boards fully supported Shah, so there was no need for the PCB and it remained silent during the voting. Now the Pakistan Cricket Board is going to have a lot of difficulties in getting its point across in the ICC, because they had messed with this Jay Shah from time to time.
Now how will our country invite India for the Champions Trophy
After Jay Shah became the chairman of ICC, it is not going to be so easy for the Pakistan Cricket Board to invite India to their country for the Champions Trophy. PCB was adamant to invite India there, but now that Jay Shah has become the boss of ICC, he is hardly going to agree to this demand of Pakistan Cricket Board. So somewhere it seems that PCB is going to face difficulties in inviting India to their country and they may have to organize the Champions Trophy under the hybrid model.
