Jaipur. The audience was thrilled with mystery, thrill and laughter when they saw that a look-alike corpse was being chased by a middle-class housewife and got trapped in a trap of her own making due to her greed. Under the banner of People’s Media Theater and Social Sampark, the comedy play Champakali Ka Ram Rupaiya was played at Maharana Pratap Auditorium on Saturday evening.
Dozens of performances of this play have taken place across the country under the direction of senior theater artist Ashok Rahi. The drama starts with the love marriage of Natwar and Champakali and one day a stranger comes to their house and dies, whose appearance is very similar to Natwar and in the greed of grabbing the insurance amount of Rs 50 lakh, the fake Natwar is transformed into the real Natwar. They give it and then the police and detective’s investigation begins in which both get entangled.
Champakali’s Ramrupaiya is a great example of situational comedy. Writer Ashok Rahi made the audience laugh a lot with his witty dialogues and the young actors with their energetic acting. In the play, Prerna Punia as Champakali and Nitin Saini as Natwar performed strongly.
The drama includes Jai Soni (Pritam), Jatin Pareek (Jee Lal), Himanshi Saini (Ramkali), Atul Gupta (Inspector Ghod Padkar), Tushar Pathan (Lotan Singh), Priyanshu Pareek (Detective Dhumketu), Akshat Sharma (Sher Bahadur Thapa) Aman Sharma. (Tantric Swami) and Jitendra Kumar played the stranger corpse. The assistant directors of the play were Supriya Sharma and Nitin Saini while Satendra Singh was the stage manager.
President of People’s Media Theater Ashok Rahi said that this play was done under the Theater Sankalp Scheme whose objective is to promote drama art and continuously show good theater to the audience. In this series, Dilwale Dulhaniya De Jayenge will be staged in February and the play Ishq Par Jor Nahi will be staged in the month of March. – Network
