Kolkata. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has called the protesting doctors for talks at 5 pm today. These doctors are protesting against the rape and murder of a doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College on the intervening night of August 8 and 9. Today is the 38th day of the doctors’ protest. Earlier, talks were fixed between CM Mamata Banerjee and the doctors several times, but due to not agreeing to some conditions, the doctors refused to talk to Mamata.
The doctors had earlier put a condition that when Mamata Banerjee talks to them on issues, it should be live streamed. The West Bengal government refused to accept this condition. After this, to break the deadlock, the doctors recently proposed that instead of live streaming, a video recording of the meeting with Mamata Banerjee should be done and the entire video should be made available to them. Mamata Banerjee’s government did not agree to this as well and the deadlock with the doctors continued. After this, Mamata Banerjee also reached the place of the doctors’ protest. She said that she does not run the government alone and will talk to other officials and sympathetically consider accepting the demands of the doctors. Mamata Banerjee had also said that her government would not take any action against the agitating doctors.
Now Mamata Banerjee government has called the protesting doctors for talks. Doctors have already said that their agitation will continue till their demands are met. Now everyone’s eyes are on which demands of the protesting doctors are met by Mamata Banerjee after the talks and whether the agitation ends or not? Let us tell you that many leaders of Mamata Banerjee’s party TMC have also accused the doctors that due to their agitation, many patients have lost their lives due to lack of treatment.
