Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the father of economic reforms and who led the country for 10 years, died on Thursday. India is mourning the demise of one of its most distinguished leaders, Dr. Manmohan Singh. Rising from an ordinary background, he became a renowned economist. He worked on many posts including Finance Minister. Left a deep mark on our economic policy for years. His contribution inside the Parliament is very important. As our Prime Minister he made extensive efforts to improve the lives of the people.
Former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, who started his academic career as a student of Economics, succeeded in making a name for himself as a successful economist, policy maker and a politician, and he was also a megastar who changed the nature of the Indian economy. . A great hero whose bravery is respected by the entire world. Dr. Singh started his career as a teacher. He taught at Panjab University, Delhi School of Economics and Delhi University. After teaching, he entered administrative services.

1954: Received a master’s degree in Economics from Punjab University. 1957: Economics Tripos (three-year degree programme) from the University of Cambridge. 1962: D.Phil. in Economics from Oxford University. 1971: Joined the Government of India as Economic Advisor in the Ministry of Commerce. 1972: Appointed Chief Economic Advisor in the Finance Ministry. 1980-82: Member of the Planning Commission. 1982–1985: Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. 1985-87: Served as Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission. 1987–90: Secretary-General of the South Commission in Geneva. 1990: Appointed advisor to the Prime Minister on economic matters. 1991: Appointed Chairman of the University Grants Commission. 1991: Elected to Rajya Sabha from Assam and re-elected in 1995, 2001, 2007 and 2013. 1991-96: Finance Minister in the PV Narasimha Rao government. 1998–2004: Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha. 2004–2014: Prime Minister of India.
