Taking a big decision on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet has approved the decision to build 8 new high-speed road corridors across the country. According to the information given, the total length of these 8 national high-speed road corridor projects is going to be 936 kilometers. At the same time, the total cost of this entire project will be Rs 50,655 crore. Let us know where these 8 new corridors will be built in the country.
Where will the 8 corridors be built?
- 6-lane Agra-Gwalior National High-Speed Corridor
- 4-lane Kharagpur – Morgram National High-Speed Corridor
- 6-lane Tharad – Deesa – Mehsana – Ahmedabad National High-Speed Corridor
- 4-lane Ayodhya Ring Road
- Pathalgaon and Gumla 4-lane section between Raipur-Ranchi National High-Speed Corridor
- 6-lane Kanpur Ring Road
- 4-lane North Guwahati Bypass and widening/improvement of existing Guwahati Bypass
- 8-lane elevated Nashik Phata-Khed corridor, near Pune
The 8 new National High-Speed Road Corridors will have the following benefits:
- Travel time between Agra and Gwalior will be reduced by 50%.
- Kharagpur-Moregram Corridor will be beneficial in transforming the economy of West Bengal and North-East.
- Kanpur Ring Road will decongest the highway network around Kanpur.
- Completion of Raipur-Ranchi corridor will increase the development of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.
- The new corridor between Tharad and Ahmedabad is to complete the high-speed road network in Gujarat which will help in seamless port connectivity and lower logistics costs.
Target of 30+ trillion dollar economy by 2047
The corridor building vision of the Central Government has identified a network of 50,000 km of high-speed highway corridors through scientific transportation studies based on GSTN and toll data to help transform India into a $30+ trillion economy by the year 2024.
