A truck running on the highway between Bandhanwada and Gowalia in Bhinay police station area of the district suddenly caught fire on Wednesday night. As soon as the information about the fire was received, the truck driver and operator stopped the truck and saved their lives by jumping from the cabin, but the truck caught fire within a short time. At first the people nearby also ran away. Then some people gathered courage and tried to extinguish the fire themselves. Later the fire was controlled with the help of fire brigade, due to which a major accident was averted.
The burning truck created chaos at the spot and panic spread among the people. Panicked motorists fled leaving their vehicles on the road, causing a long traffic jam at the spot. After the incident, there was traffic jam on the national highway for about an hour.
As soon as the information was received, Bandhanwada outpost in-charge Girdhari Singh reached the spot. As soon as information about the incident was received, fire brigade personnel of Vijayanagar Municipality immediately reached the spot and brought the fire of the burning truck under control. Later the police diverted the line on the national highway and started traffic. Police are currently investigating this matter.
