Islamabad, Sep 2 (IANS) Ten new cases of dengue have been reported from Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province in the last 24 hours.
Releasing the latest figures on dengue cases, the Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department said that these cases were reported from three different districts, including five in Lahore, four in Rawalpindi and one in Chakwal district, according to news agency Xinhua.
The department said 54 dengue cases were reported across the province last week.
According to the statement, after these new cases emerged, the total number of cases this year has reached 357.
At the same time, the Health Department has said that all necessary arrangements are being made to prevent dengue, and adequate medicines are being made available in all government hospitals.
The statement said that health officials are closely monitoring the situation. However, people should take precautionary measures and report any symptoms immediately to help prevent its spread.
Meanwhile, Pakistan is also struggling to tackle and control Monkeypox (MPOX) as its fifth case has been reported from Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, forcing the provincial health authorities to step up their fight against the virus.
The latest case was reported among patients who recently returned from the Gulf region. The 47-year-old man has been isolated by Border Health Services staff and admitted to Khyber Teaching Hospital.
The resurgence of AmPox in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and its provincial capital Peshawar has become a matter of serious concern for the local government and health authorities.
Health agencies are also taking immediate steps to implement intensive checking and screening protocols at Pakistan’s airports.
