Along with renunciation and penance, Mahakumbh is also a festival of resolve of various practices. Prayagraj Mahakumbh is becoming witness to the various resolutions of Mahakumbh Sadhana. One such practice is Panch Dhuni Tapasya which is also called the Sadhana of Agni Snan, which started with the nectar bath festival of Basant Panchami.
The beginning of Panch Dhuni Tapasya in Tapasvi Nagar:
The Kumbh region is the field of chanting, penance and practice, in which some seeker will be seen in his practice in every corner. A special kind of spiritual practice has started from Basant Panchami in the ascetic city of Mahakumbh, about which there is a lot of curiosity among the devotees. This sadhana is called Panch Dhuni Tapasya, which is also known by the name of common devotee Agni bathing. In this practice, the seeker makes several circles of burning fire around him and performs his practice by sitting in the middle of it. Due to the fire, which comes in contact with the lightness, the skin of a person gets scorched and many times more than that, these ascetics perform their practice.
This difficult tradition of spiritual practice is among the saints of Khalsa in Vaishnava Akharas:
In the Khalsa of Vaishnav Akhara, there is a tradition of this fire bathing, which is done after reaching a state of great renunciation and restraint. In Shri Digambar Ani Akhara, Mahant Raghav Das says that the Sirmaur Akhara of Agni Sadhana Vaishnav Akhada is the special practice of the seekers of the All India Panch thirteen brothers Tyagi Khalsa of Digambar Ani Akhara. This practice is 18 years. Not only is the purpose of cultivation to be fulfilled by completing this ritual, but the ability and tolerance of the monk is also tested. After the five months of the year for 18 consecutive years, that monk gets the title of Vairagi after going through this harsh penance.
