A senior officer of Kondhwa police station said that we have registered a case against 25 people under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code for manhandling and manhandling OBC activist Laxman Hake and the case is being investigated.
Maratha workers and OBC workers have once again come face to face in the fight for reservation in Maharashtra. This time the matter has turned violent and the situation has reached the level of scuffle and abuse. Members of the Maratha community in Pune have allegedly scuffled and abused Other Backward Class (OBC) activist Laxman Hake. Police gave this information on Tuesday. An official said a case has been registered against 25 people in connection with the incident that took place near Kondhwa on Monday night.
In a video surfaced on social media, people of Maratha community are seen protesting against Hake. People from the Maratha community claimed that Hake was drunk and abused some of them. A senior officer of Kondhwa police station said, “We have registered a case against 25 people under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code for manhandling and manhandling OBC activist Laxman Hake and the case is being investigated.” “
The protestors brought Hake to the police station and alleged that he was drunk and demanded that he be medically examined, the officer said. He said the activist was taken to Sassoon General Hospital late last night under heavy security. “Haake was ready to get the investigation done because he wanted to be cleared of the allegations against him,” the officer said. The results of the investigation will come in two days and based on that we will take necessary action.
Meanwhile, Hake claimed that a conspiracy was hatched to murder him and said that the police were investigating the allegations leveled against him. Last week, Hake and his fellow OBC activist Navnath Waghmare had postponed the fast they had started in Jalna to ensure reservation for Other Backward Classes after Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange called off his indefinite hunger strike. Jarange is demanding reservation for the Maratha community under the OBC category.

This is not the first time that Maratha workers and OBC workers have come face to face. In the month of June this year also, Maratha agitator Manoj Jarange and OBC activist Laxman Hake had come face to face. Hake had then said that ‘Kunbi’ and ‘Maratha’ communities are completely different. Hake had advocated and demanded not to give reservation to Marathas under Kunbi OBC category, whereas Marathas are demanding OBC reservation under Kunbi community.
Here, Manoj Jarange Patil had started the fast again on the demand of reservation, which has now ended. Citing the appeal of Maratha community members, Jarange had ended his fast on September 25. Jarange had been on a hunger strike on September 17, his sixth strike in a year, demanding reservation for the Maratha community under the Other Backward Class (OBC) category. Jarange again threatened the Eknath Shinde-led Mahayuti government that if it comes under pressure from OBC community leaders and goes back on its assurance for Maratha quota, it will prove costly for the ruling coalition in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. . Jarange has appealed to the people including the poor and needy to show unity in the Dussehra rally to be held in Narayangarh in Beed district in Maharashtra. (with language inputs)
