Due to heavy rains in Nepal and neighboring states, the rivers of Bihar have overflowed. Ganga, Bagmati, Ghaghra rivers are flowing above the red mark. Due to which the Water Resources Department has issued an alert in many districts.

Due to heavy rains in Nepal as well as neighboring states, the rivers of the state are once again in spate. Ganga, Bagmati, Ghaghra and Kamla Balan rivers have crossed the danger mark. Apart from Adhawaara, Kosi, Gandak, Kamla is likely to cross the red mark at some other places. If the rain continues at this pace, the water level of half a dozen rivers may cross the danger mark in the next 72 hours. In view of the spate in the rivers, the Water Resources Department has issued an alert.

Surveillance of embankments has been increased. The concerned officers and engineers have been instructed to do night patrolling. Embankment security personnel have been asked to increase patrolling. Due to continuous rain in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, there is an unexpected discharge of water in the Son river. Last night, there was 2.28 lakh cusecs of water in the river.

Heavy rain has occurred in Garhwa of Jharkhand, the catchment area of ​​Son river, while Balrampur, Surajpur, Surguja, Jashpur of Chhattisgarh and Siddhi of Madhya Pradesh have also received heavy rain. Due to rain in Nepal, the water level of many rivers including Gandak and Kosi has started rising again.

The Ganga river has reached above the danger mark in Patna. It had crossed the warning level till last night. The river reached 48 cm above the danger mark at Gandhi Ghat. While in Hathidah also its water has crossed the red mark. Similarly, Bagmati and Kamla Balan are flowing above the danger mark in Muzaffarpur, Ghaghra in Siwan.

Kosi river is rising rapidly in Supaul and Khagaria, Bagmati and Adhawara in Sitamarhi and Muzaffarpur, Gandak in Gopalganj. Apart from this, the water of many small rivers of South Bihar is also rising rapidly.
