Mahant Satyendra Das, the chief priest of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi, has died on Wednesday, February 12. 87 -year -old Satyendra Das was admitted to SGPGI, Lucknow on Sunday after his health deteriorated due to ‘brain stroke’. He also had diabetes and high blood pressure. A press release issued by the hospital said that Shri Satyendra Das ji, the chief priest of Ayodhya Ram temple, breathed his last today. He was admitted to HDU of Neurology ward in critical condition due to stroke on 3 February.
CM Yogi expressed mourning
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has mourned the death of Das. He posted on the social media handle x and wrote, “The death of Acharya Shri Satyendra Kumar Das Ji Maharaj, the chief priest of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, Shri Ayodhya Dham, is extremely sad and irreparable loss of the spiritual world. Humble tribute!”
When did Satyendra Das become a priest?
Das was a priest of a temporary Ram temple on 6 December 1992, when the Babri Masjid was demolished. Das, the chief priest who served the longest time of the Ram temple, who opted for spiritual life, was only 20 years old. He has widespread respect beyond Ayodhya and even beyond that.
Satyendra Das was the most accessible saint of Ayodhya
Das, who belongs to Nirvani Akhara, was one of the most accessible saints of Ayodhya and was accessible to many media persons from all over the country.
