Bhopal News Desk. To reduce maternal and child mortality rate in the state, National Health Mission Madhya Pradesh is now also starting the facility of birth waiting room. It is going to start from JP District Hospital of the capital. On Tuesday, Civil Surgeon Dr. Rakesh Srivastava inspected the city’s first maternity waiting room. A maternity waiting room has been built in front of the labor room in C-Block. Women will be kept here before delivery. Maternity waiting room will start in the district hospital from October 2.
In this regard, Hospital Superintendent Dr. Rakesh Srivastava said that pregnant women who have any illness or physical problem before delivery will be kept in the delivery waiting room. He will be admitted here for 10 days. There are eight beds in the waiting room, where all facilities are available. In which all services including treatment will be provided free to pregnant women.
Let us tell you that these maternity waiting rooms are being built by the Health Department in remote areas and areas with high home delivery, where high risk women can get timely treatment. For this, preparations are being made to build maternity waiting rooms at 249 identified delivery points in 51 districts by next year. It will be installed in all 51 district hospitals, 71 civil hospitals of 47 districts and 127 community health centers in the state, which are in inaccessible areas.
Institutional distribution will be encouraged
In fact, in many parts of the state, women live in remote areas away from health facilities, where home deliveries are highly prevalent. Maternal mortality rates are high in these areas. With this objective in mind, a maternity waiting room is being started to promote institutional delivery. Here high-risk pregnant women will be admitted to the maternity waiting room. Where Suman Help Desk and Asha will examine pregnant women and take details of diseases.
These facilities will be there in the maternity waiting room
– The maternity waiting room will have a maternity wing, antenatal ward and a maternity ward.
There will be a facility of eight to ten beds.
There will be a nursing station in the ward.
-Adequate ventilation and AC will be installed.
– Along with the warmer, a household thermometer will be used to measure the temperature.
There will be a bed side screen for privacy.
