Chandigarh The Punjab government has formed a cabinet committee to make its fight against drugs more strict, which is headed by Dr. Balbir Singh, Minister of Health and Family Welfare of the state. The purpose of this committee is to take effective steps to prevent drug trade and its impact in every district.
Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh told the news agency that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has formed a cabinet committee under the direction of Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, which aims to eliminate drug addiction in the state. This committee will monitor the ‘fight’ against drug addiction. All police officers, administrative secretaries, deputy commissioners and SSP have been given clear instructions to do better work in this direction.
He informed that responsibility will be fixed in every district, especially SSP and administrative officials will be held accountable to maintain drug -free areas. Along with this, it will be ensured to treat drug addicts and sending drug smugglers to jail.
Dr. Balbir Singh said that the government aims to treat drug addicts. We will do hard reduction work, that is, we will motivate those to leave injections and bullets and teach them some work that they can improve their lives. We are working for drug -free Punjab and will focus on education and skill development to protect the youth from drugs.
He said that drug patients will be treated and their health will be monitored. In these centers, drug patients will be trained in education and skill development so that they can play a positive role again in the society. We will not give drug smugglers a chance to sell drugs at the district level under any circumstances and their entire activities will be monitored.
