Tribute to those who lost their lives in Bhopal gas accident by taking out a torch rally.

Bhopal,. 40 years ago, poisonous gas leak from the Union Carbide plant in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, killed thousands of people and made lakhs of others sick. A memorial meeting was organized and a torch rally was taken out on Monday night in memory of the victims of this accident.

There was leakage of poisonous gas from the Union Carbide plant located in the capital on the night of 2-3 December 1984. Thousands of people died on the night of this accident itself. Thousands of people are still suffering from diseases due to the effects of poisonous gas.

Tuesday is the 40th anniversary of the Bhopal gas tragedy. Every year on 3 December, events and tribute meetings are organized here in memory of the victims of the incident. On the eve of the anniversary of the accident, a torch rally was taken out today under the leadership of organizations fighting for the victims.

The rally started from the over bridge located at Mandi Gate near Union Carbide factory and reached near Gas Mata Murti located in JP Nagar. A large number of people joined this rally holding torches in their hands. He expressed his displeasure over the attitude of the governments and the facilities he was getting.

Rachna Dhingra, associated with an organization fighting for the gas victims, has said that the film Sheesha Ka Messiah was screened on this occasion. This film was made in 1985 and was banned after being shown in Parliament, but today it was shown again.

On the 40th anniversary of the Bhopal gas tragedy, ‘Sarva Dharma Prayer Meeting’ will be held at Barkatullah Bhawan, Central Library at 10.30 am on 3rd December. In the programme, Governor Mangubhai Patel will pay tribute to the martyrs of the Bhopal gas tragedy. Sarvadharma recitation will be performed for the deceased by various religious leaders. Silent tribute will also be paid to the memory of the deceased. Principal Secretary of Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation, Director Gas Relief and distinguished citizens will be present in the program.
