The United Nations Climate Head Simon Steel called India a ‘solar superpower’. He has urged India to develop an ambitious climate scheme by incorporating its entire economy. He has said that by adopting the boom in the global clean energy sector more strongly, India’s economic progress will gain momentum.
Steel, who came to India to participate in ‘ET Global Business Summit’, appreciated India’s efforts to reduce climate change and said that while some governments only talk, ‘India works’.
He said, “India is already a solar superpower, one of the only four countries setting up more than 100 GW of solar energy … Energy is increasing and electricity will be delivered to villages across the country by 2018, Which is long before the scheduled time. “
Steel said, “Now there is a real opportunity to take the next steps and get even more benefits for India’s 1.4 billion people and economy. India is already moving firmly in this direction, but adopting global clean energy boom further will promote India’s economic growth. ”
Steel said that India has an opportunity that only a few countries have. This is’ realizing the ambitious plans to deploy hundreds of gigawatts of renewable energy capacity ‘leading a new wave of green industrialization, development, expanding and exporting important technologies.’
He said that the fifth largest economy in the world is in good condition to take advantage of climate schemes.
The United Nations Climate head said that leaders of India have a rare opportunity to deepen the overall economy industrial strategies, which would make the rapidly developing South Asian nation a major power in clean energy and industry.
