A major accident was averted at Chennai International Airport on Tuesday night when an Emirates flight bound for Dubai suddenly caught fire. In the viral video on social media, it is clearly visible that smoke is rising from the plane. It is being said that this accident happened when the flight was being refuelled before take-off.
In the video shot by the ground staff, it is seen that a cloud of white smoke is rising from the rear of the plane. The airport staff was trying to extinguish this fire very carefully. In the video, firefighters are seen pouring water on the rear of the plane to extinguish the fire.
After this incident, Emirates issued a statement that flight EK547 was delayed due to a technical fault. Emirates said, “Flight EK547 from Chennai to Dubai was delayed due to a technical fault on 24 September 2024. After engineering investigation, the flight was allowed to go to Dubai. Emirates apologizes to its passengers for the inconvenience caused and the safety of our passengers and crew is paramount.”
After this incident, a lot of anger was seen among the passengers. A passenger named Satish wrote on X, “We were taken off the plane after boarding and were made to stand outside for 50 minutes without any reason.” He also told that the flight was delayed by 2.5 hours.
