According to the Panchang, Bhadrapada month is going on right now and the first Ekadashi of this month is Aja Ekadashi which is being celebrated today i.e. on Thursday, 29th August. Fasting and worship are prescribed on this day.
Ekadashi fast is dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu. On this day, devotees keep fast and remain immersed in the worship of Shri Hari. It is believed that by fasting and worshipping Narayan on the day of Aja Ekadashi, all the sins of the person are destroyed and happiness and prosperity also come in life. Method of worship of Ekadashi-
Today on the day of Aaja Ekadashi, after taking a bath in the morning, take a pledge to fast and worship Lord Vishnu. Along with this, after cleaning the place of worship thoroughly, spread a yellow cloth on the platform and install the idol of Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi, after this light a lamp of ghee and offer fruits, flowers, sandalwood etc. to God.
Also chant the mantra “Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevay” at least 11 times and offer all the worship material to God and recite the Vrat Katha. Finally, do the Aarti of Lord Vishnu and ask for forgiveness from the Lord for any mistake. Now eat fruits throughout the day and break the fast the next day i.e. on Dwadashi Tithi. It is believed that worshipping in this manner brings God’s blessings.
