Ajay Singh (English: Ajai Singh, born November 20, 1934) is the Commander in Chief (CNC) of Andaman and Nicobar. He has shown bravery on many missions ranging from Kargil war to Siachen operation. Ajay Singh belongs to a family whose connection with the army is 162 years old. He has passion for the army since the time of his great grandfather’s father. Ajay Singh was also the Governor of Assam from 5 June 2003 to 4 July 2008.

His great grandfather Risaldar Major Raj Singh Ahlawat joined the Skinnerhorse Regiment of the British Army in 1901. Took part in the third Afghan war.
Grandfather, Brigadier (Colonel) Kadam Singh Ahlawat joined the Poona Horse Regiment of the Army in 1936. During his deployment in Eastern Ladakh during the 1962 war, he reached Daulatbeg Oldie (DOB) without being acclimatized. He had a heart attack there. Due to this he also got demotion. Father Brigadier NP Singh had established 81 Armored Regiment in 1973. At that time this regiment was called ‘Deccan Horse’.
