Anchita Sheuli (English: Anchita Sheuli, born 24 November 2001) is an Indian weightlifter, who competes in the 73 kg weight category. He won the silver medal in the 2021 Junior World Weightlifting Championships. He is a two-time Commonwealth Championships gold medalist. In the 2022 Commonwealth Games (Commonwealth Games, 2022, Birmingham, England), Anchita Sheuli created a Games record by lifting a weight of 313 kg and won the gold medal.
Anchita Sheuli was born on 24 November 2001 in Deulpur, West Bengal, India. He did his education from a government school in West Bengal and after that he completely focused on his weightlifting career. When Anchita Sheuli was just 10 years old, one day he reached the gym while playing a kite. There his elder brother Alok used to practice weightlifting. Anchita Sheuli got inspiration from here and she got inclined towards weightlifting. However, the financial condition of the family was very bad. Father Jagat used to drive a cycle rickshaw and also worked as a laborer when he got wages, so that the needs of the family could be met.[1]
The sudden death of her father in the year 2013 created a big crisis for Anchita Sheuli’s family. After the death of his father, his brother Alok’s dream was also shattered. Alok left weightlifting and started working to take care of his family. His mother Purnima Sheuli also started sewing and weaving so that she could feed the children.
After the death of his father, Anchita Sheuli’s elder brother Alok himself had given up his dream of becoming a weightlifter, but cherished the dream of making Achinta a weightlifter. Anchita Sheuli was also heartbroken and wanted to stay away from sports because the condition of the house was such. But his performance at the district level, junior level and national level inspired him to move forward. According to brother Alok, whatever money I saved, I used to try to complete Achinta’s diet. We started practicing even with very limited resources and Achinta continued to perform better. Achinta’s better performance put her in such a position that a foundation helped her.
Achinta Sheuli started her weightlifting career in 2011. It was his brother who inspired him to take up weightlifting and it was he who first trained him. Achinta, who is also a weightlifter, won her first medal in 2015. He won his first medal for India in the Commonwealth Youth Championship in 2015. Then he continued to perform brilliantly and in the year 2015 itself, he joined the Army Sports Institute and also joined the Indian National Camp there in the same year. He trained at the Army Sports Institute in 2016 and 2017.[1]
In 2019, Reliance Foundation Youth Sports selected Anchita Sheuli under its Elite Athlete Scholarship Programme. This program not only provided financial help but also provided sports psychotherapist and sports science specialist to Achinta. The Foundation’s hospital made arrangements for Achinta’s nutrition, strength and conditioning, psychological and data analysis so that she could be fully prepared for the international competition. Started with Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in 2019. Anchita Sheuli’s sports career begins. He won the gold medal in the 73 kg category and his career started. After this he again won the gold medal in the Commonwealth Games Championship, 2021.
Achinta Sheuli plays in the 73 kg weight category, after which she won the silver medal in the World Lifting Championship, 2021 itself. Then in the Commonwealth Games, 2022, he created history by winning the third gold for India. ==Achinta Sheuli participated on behalf of India in the 73 kg weight category in the Commonwealth Games 2022. He lifted 143 kg in snatch. Lifted the weight of. 166 kg in the first attempt of clean and jerk. And in the third attempt he lifted a weight of 170 kg. He also failed in the second attempt but in the third attempt he lifted 170 kg. The total weight lifted was 313 kg. Lifted weight. This is also a record for the Commonwealth. The special thing was that he gained 10 kg more than the Malaysian player who won the silver. Lifted more weight and won the gold medal of Commonwealth Games, 2022.
