Shiv Kumar Subramaniam (English: Shiv Kumar Subramaniam, born- 23 December, 1959; died- 10 April, 2022) was a veteran Indian actor and award-winning writer. He was popular for his excellent performances in Hindi films like ‘2 States’, ‘Meenakshi Sundareshwar’, ‘Kaminey’, ‘Teen Patti’ and many more. During his illustrious career, Shiv Kumar Subramaniam was honored with ‘Filmfare’ awards for his films ‘Parinda’ and ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’.
Shiv Kumar Subramaniam was born on 23 December 1959 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. During his illustrious career, Shiv Kumar Subramaniam was awarded the Filmfare Award for Best Screenwriting for ‘Parinda’ and Best Story for ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’. Shiv Kumar Subramaniam, who came into limelight in the Hindi film industry since 1989, worked in films and TV shows throughout his career. The film ‘Parinda’, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, included Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Nana Patekar and Anupam Kher, whose script was written by Shiv Kumar Subramaniam.
Shiv Kumar Subramaniam also worked in many TV serials in his career. He also played the role of business Mr. IM Virani in the TV show Mukti Bandhan on Colors. Some of her most recent roles are in Meenakshi Sundareshwar and Nail Polish. The actor also starred in films like Rocky Handsome, Ungli, Kamini, 1942: A Love Story and 2 States.
Apart from ‘Two State’, Subramaniam was also seen in ‘Teen Patti’, ‘Prahar’ and Rani Mukherjee starrer ‘Hichki’. He wrote the screenplay of Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s film ‘Parinda’ and Sudhir Mishra’s film ‘Hazaron Khwaishein Aisi’. Shiv Kumar also worked in the TV show ‘Mukti Bandhan’. Shiv Kumar also received the Filmfare Award for Best Story for the film ‘Hazaron Khwaishein Aisi’ (2006). Apart from this, he was also given the Filmfare Award for Best Screenplay for ‘Parinda’.
Script writer and actor Shiv Kumar Subramaniam died on April 10, 2022. He was suffering from cancer for a long time. He died just two months after the death of his son Jahaan. His son Jahaan had a brain tumor. He died before his 16th birthday. According to the information, the last rites of Shiv Kumar Subramaniam were performed on April 11, 2022 (Monday) at 11 am at Mokshadham Hindu cremation ground.
