Babita Phogat (English: Babita Phogat, born 20 November 1989, Bhiwani district, Haryana) is an Indian female freestyle wrestler who won a silver medal in the 2010 Commonwealth Games. He won a bronze medal at the 2012 World Wrestling Championships and a gold medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Babita Phogat is the sister of Commonwealth Games winner Geeta Phogat.
Babita Phogat was born on 20 November 1989 in a Hindu-Jat family of Balali, a small village in Bhiwani district in Haryana. She is Geeta Phogat’s sister. Babita Phogat is the daughter of wrestler and Dronacharya Award recipient Mahavir Singh Phogat. Her youngest sister Ritu Phogat is an international level wrestler and won a gold medal at the 2016 Commonwealth Wrestling Championship. Her younger sister, Sangeeta Phogat, is also a wrestler.
From 2009 to 2015, Babita has participated in all the Commonwealth and Asian Games, where she won many medals.
Babita Phogat, her sisters and cousins have made special contributions to changing the attitude towards women and girls in their village in Haryana. Babita Phogat wants that the thinking of her villagers should change and they too should educate their daughters and take them forward.
