Chimanbhai Patel (English: Chimanbhai Patel, born- 3 June 1929; Death- 17 February 1994) was a politician of the Indian National Congress, who was the former Chief Minister of Gujarat. He was the Chief Minister of Gujarat from July 18, 1973 to 9 February 1974.

Chimanbhai Patel did not reach the post of Chief Minister with the legacy of any political family. He was a farmer boy. He struggled a lot to achieve this position. His village falls in the Shankheda tehsil of Chikodra Vadodara. He entered student politics during his college days. In 1950, Chimanbhai Patel was elected President of Vadodara’s ‘Maharaja Sayajirao University’. His political journey started from here. In 1967, he received a Congress ticket from Shankheda. He won and was made a minister in Hitendra Desai’s government. After this Ghanshyambhai was a minister in Ojha’s government. Chimanbhai Patel’s political career came to a bad phase after 1974. Leaving Congress, he formed a new party. But the matter did not work. After this, he reached the Janata Dal while traveling on various factions of the Janata Party. Finally, he became the Chief Minister on the banner of this party. He was a person who carried out the upsurge in politics. The Chimanbhai, against whom the anti -corruption movement, staged a separation from the Congress in 1974. Made his new party ‘Kisan Mazdoor Lok Paksha’. After the Emergency ended in 1977, he became the flag bearer of the Janata Party in Gujarat. From there he went to the Janata Dal. In 1990, he was sworn in as the Chief Minister of the Janata Dal. Had gone to Congress by 1991.
