He is an Indian politician from Meghalaya and the current Chief Minister of the state. This is former Lok Sabha Speaker P.A. He is the son of Sangama. Along with this, he also became the youngest Finance Minister of Meghalaya in 2008. He is currently an MP from Tura Lok Sabha constituency. Before this, he had been the youngest Finance Minister of the state in 2008. In the Meghalaya Assembly elections 2018, Conrad Sangma-led NPP emerged as the second largest party by winning 19 seats.

Conrad Sangma was born on January 27, 1978 in Tura area of West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya. Conrad Sangma did his early education at St. Columbus School, Delhi. After this he went abroad for further studies. He has received higher education from London University of Britain and University of Pennsylvania of America. He has studied BBA in Entrepreneurial Management and MBA in Finance. Conrad Sangma is the youngest son of PA Sangma, former Chief Minister of Meghalaya and former Lok Sabha Speaker.
PA Sangma has been a senior Congress leader. Later he separated from Congress and joined the newly formed Nationalist Congress Party. His mother’s name is Soradini Sangma. Conrad is married to Mehtab Sangma. Conrad’s sister Agatha Sangma has also been a Lok Sabha MP. Agatha became the youngest minister in Manmohan Singh’s cabinet in 2009. Conrad’s elder brother James Sangma is also in politics, having been the leader of the opposition in the Meghalaya Assembly.

After completing his education, Conrad Sangma entered the field of politics in the late 90s. He started by taking over the reins of his father PA Sangma’s election campaign as campaign manager. PA Sangma was then contesting the elections as a candidate of the Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), a faction that had broken away from the Congress. PA Sangma also won that election. Conrad Sangma first contested the state assembly elections in 2008 and won. Conrad Sangma’s brother James also won that election.
After this, when the NCP government was formed, he held many important departments like Finance Ministry, Electricity, Tourism, Telecommunication and presented his first annual budget within just 10 days of his tenure. After this, from 2009 to 2013, he was the leader of opposition in the Meghalaya Assembly. In 2016, he stood from this seat in the Tura Lok Sabha by-election, which fell vacant after the death of his father PA Sangma, and defeated Dikkanchi D Shira, wife of the then Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, by a huge margin of 1.92 lakh votes. Conrad Sangma got 3,29,497 votes, while Mrs Shira got 1,37,285 votes.
