Introduction
Dalip Kaur Tiwana has put more than two dozen novels, several story collections, many critical books, an autobiography ‘barefoot journey’ and a literary self-living ‘to listen’ in his mother-boring Punjabi language bag. Many of his compositions have become popular in many languages and have become popular. Dr. Dalip Kaur Tiwana was a professor at Punjabi University, Patiala and was a ‘Saraswati Samman’ litterateur for her Punjabi literature writing.
Respect
Dalip Kaur Tiwana was given the Padma Shri honor in 2004 for remarkable work in the field of literature and education. He also received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1971. In 2001, Saraswati Samman was given for the novel ‘Katha Kaho Urvashi’. Dalip Kaur Tiwana announced to return the Padma Shri in October 2015 against the growing communal tension in India.
Death
Renowned Punjabi novelist and legend Dalip Kaur Tiwana died on 31 January 2020 in a private hospital in Mohali. She was 84 years old. He was admitted to the ICU of the hospital on 16 January due to difficulty in breathing due to contraction in the lungs. To know his condition, Punjab’s Rural Development Minister Trupt Rajinder Singh reached Bajwa Hospital and assured the writer’s family of financial assistance for treatment. He is survived by husband Bhupinder Singh and son Simranjit Singh.
