Introduction
The great revolutionary and patriotic Damodar Swaroop Seth was born on 11 February 1901 in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. When he was sent to Allahabad for studies, he came in contact with the revolutionaries. His thoughts were further confirmed by the incidents of Bang fractures, inspiration from revolutionaries like Rasbihari Bose and Lajpatarai. He took the fast of country service by remaining unmarried.
Career
Damodar Swaroop Seth was also arrested in ‘Banaras Conspiracy’ of 1914-1915 and ‘Kakori Conspiracy Case’ of 1925, but the government could not prove him prosecution. He was sentenced to jail in the non -cooperation movement. For the service, he had taken membership of Lala Lajpatarai’s ‘Public Social Committee’. He was a prominent member of the Congress Samajwadi Party. He later joined the forward block established by Netaji and became his secretary. In 1937 and 1946, he was elected a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. He remained under house arrest during the period of World War II. He again joined the Congress when he was released from jail. He was counted among the major ‘socialists’ of Uttar Pradesh.
Death
Damodar Swaroop Seth died in 1965.
