History News Desk !! Ramharkh Singh Sehgal (born 28 September, 1896, Lahore, Death- 1 February 1952) was a well-known journalist of his time and a person of revolutionary sentiments. He was the founder and editor of the unique monthly magazine of that time, ‘Chand’. With the aim of accelerating the national movement, 10000 copies of this number were published by taking out the ‘hanging number’ of the moon, which was seized by the British government.
Introduction
Ramharkh Singh Sehgal was born on 28 September 1896 in a village near Lahore. He started the life of a journalist with publishing the monthly magazine from Allahabad in 1923 AD. ‘Future’ in 1927, ‘Karmayogi’ in 1937 and ‘bouquet’ points in 1940. He made his published ‘Chand’ number a medium of public awareness and female-awakening. Due to this work, he had to face the anger of not only foreign government but also the fundamentalists of the society.
Contribution
Sehgal has contributed to the tradition of publishing special issues of Hindi magazines. He guided the society by taking out the ‘infallible numerals’, ‘Marwari numerals’, ‘letter’, ‘Rajputana numerals’ and ‘women’s numerals’. People have not forgotten the work he did by taking out the ‘hanging number’ of the moon published with the aim of accelerating the national movement. In 1931, 10000 copies of this issue were printed. On receiving the information, the government confiscated it, but by then it had spread across the country. The publication of ‘English Raj in India’ written by Pandit Sunderlal was also from the moon office. This book was confiscated as soon as it was published.
Imprisonment
Six its editors had to suffer imprisonment due to the national activities of Ramharkh Singh Sehgal’s letter ‘Bhavishya’.
Death
Ramharkh Singh Sehgal, facing a gross meaning, said goodbye to the world on 1 February 1952.
