(English: Dhirendra Brahmachari, born- 12 February 1924; Death- 9 June 1994) was the Indian Yogacharya. His childhood name was ‘Dhirchandra Chaudhary’. He was the yoga patron of former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi. Dhirendra Brahmachari operated Yoga ashrams in Delhi, Jammu, Katra and Manatalai (Jammu and Kashmir). He also composed several books related to yoga. Dhirendra Brahmachari was a resident of Madhubani district of Bihar, but he got the initiation of yoga in Uttar Pradesh. He left home at the age of 13 and made Varanasi (present Banaras) his workplace on the banks of the Ganges. He learned yoga from the famous Maharishi Karthikeya of Varanasi and is said to have later mastered in tantra-mantra and secret rituals.
Introduction
Dhirendra Brahmachari was born on 12 February 1924 in village Chanpura Basath, Madhubani, Bihar. His childhood name was Dhirchandra Chaudhary and his father’s name was Bambhol Chaudhary. Dhirendra Brahmachari was the yoga patron of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He conducted the Yoga Ashram in Delhi, Jammu, Katra and Manatalai (Jammu and Kashmir) and wrote various books related to the subject of yoga.
Indira Gandhi’s beneficiary
Of course, Indira Gandhi’s roots were in Uttar Pradesh, but he had a great influence of Yogi Dhirendra Brahmachari of Bihar. It is said that Indira Gandhi had great faith in her tantric powers. Dhirendra Brahmachari also considered Indira Gandhi to save him from every crisis. So one day the bells of the office of Intelligence Bureau started ringing. According to the book ‘Open Secret’ by former IB’s Joint Director Malayakrishna Dhar, she was ordered to stop the alleged ‘Maran Ritual’ against Indira Gandhi. In fact, Dhirendra Brahmachari feared that a powerful minister of her own cabinet was taking help of tantrikas to harm Mrs. Gandhi. For this purpose, he is conducting ‘Maran Yagya’ from the ancient, Nigam Bodh crematorium in Delhi itself.
According to the book ‘Open Secret’ written on the functioning of the country’s internal intelligence agency, the responsibility of stopping this ‘Maran Yagya’ was given to Malayakrishna Dhar. After this, the spies of the Intelligence Bureau continued to search for many cremation ghats of Delhi for many nights. However, the secret of this alleged yajna could not be revealed till the end. Dhar found this apprehension baseless in his investigation, but Dhirendra Brahmachari was not happy with the results of his investigation. Malayakrishna has mentioned that Dhirendra Brahmachari himself questioned him. Dhirendra Brahmachari made a dent from Dhar about the departure of that minister in the crematorium on a special day. When Dhar told that the minister went to the crematorium that day. On this, Brahmachari asked him whether he could still say with confidence that the sacrifice did not happen. On this, Malayakrishna Dhar replied with full confidence that the yagna was not done. Despite this report of the Intelligence Bureau, Dhirendra Brahmachari was not satisfied with the investigation of Dhar. However, whether ‘Maran Yajna’ took place or not, the truth could never be revealed.
Start of spiritual life
Inspired to read the Yoga Granth Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, Dhirendra Brahmachari left home at the age of 13 and moved to Varanasi. He started his spiritual life as a difficult path with a deep interest in finding his family abandoned in search of a spiritual guru. After several years of the fight between Prakash and the darkness, he accepted Maharishi Karthikeya as a guru, whose ashram was in Gopal Kheda near Lucknow. He went there and studied yoga and related subjects there for 12 years. There he started gaining knowledge in the context of the mysteries of yoga. According to the guidelines of his guru Maharishi Kartikeya, he practiced Pranayama in an underground cave and transformed himself into the highest world of yoga by converting himself into a master and a perfect yogi. After this, he started promoting the teachings of yoga as per his order of his mentor Karthikeya.
Writing work
In 1956, Dhirendra Brahmachari wrote the book ‘Yogic Micro Vyayam’ for the promotion of yoga. In 1970, his second book ‘Yogasan Vigyan’ was published about the correct behavior of yoga postures. Wrote various books on its exaggeration yoga. His ashram near Jammu was very grand and huge. Various activities related to yoga teaching training were conducted there. Many teachers trained there are currently working in various prestigious positions in Yoga institutions.
Hatha Yoga specialist
In the 1960s, he was invited to travel to the Soviet Union to train Soviet astronauts. He was considered an expert of Hatha Yoga at that time. He presented various hathayogik activities to the general public and generated awareness about Hatha Yoga in the public. In the 1970s, Dhirendra Brahmachari made people aware of yoga through a weekly broadcast on Doordarshan.
Beginning of yoga theme
At the same time, he took the initiative to start the subject of Yoga as a subject of study in government schools. By his efforts, in 1981, the operation of yoga classes started in the schools of Kendriya Vidyalaya under the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
Vishwayatan Yogashram
Swami Dhirendra Brahmachari was the founder of ‘Vishwayatan Yogashram’ in Delhi, which was founded in Calcutta (present Kolkata) and the institution was transferred to Delhi. Which is now known as ‘Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga’. Dhirendra Brahmachari ji’s last decade got entangled in various allegations and counter-allegations. On keeping these allegations and counter-allegations, it is known that Swami Dhirendra Brahmachari’s life was full of various compound personalities and he made meaningful efforts to promote yoga.
Death
On June 9, 1994, while traveling from a private aircraft, Swami Dhirendra Brahmachari’s life was over and he abandoned his body.
