The comic star has given many successful films in Kollywood in the last few years. Santosh Subramaniam is a remake of the Telugu film Bommarillu, which revolves around the relationship between a father and son. Actor Jayam Ravi was nominated for two Best Actor awards at the Vijay Award and Filmfare Awards South for his performance in the film. The film starred Jayam Ravi as Santhosh Subramaniam and Genelia played the role of Hasini, while Santhanam played the role of Sreenivasan.

The Tamil comedy film Shiva Manasula Sakthi was directed by debutant director Rajesh. It stars debutant Anya Bhavath in the lead role alongside Jiiva, while Santhanam, Urvashi and Sathyan play supporting roles. The film was released in 2009 and was considered a commercial success at the box-office.
