Sports News Desk !!! Duti Chand (English: Dutee Chand, Birth- 3 February 1996) is a female player of India’s international individual sprint and current national 100 meter event. She has managed to make a place in the hearts of the people by performing very brilliantly from the beginning. Both professional and individual, Duti Chand have emerged as one of the most promising athletes in India.
Introduction
Duti Chand was born in a poor weaver family of Chakagopalpur village in Jajpur district of Odisha. He is the third child of his parents among seven siblings. He and his elder sister Saraswati were enrolled in a government sports hostel in 2006. Duti Chand stated in 2019 that he is gay. According to him, he was facing opposition from his own family because of his gay relationship.
Career
Duti Chand is the third female player in India, who was qualified at the 100 -meter event of the Summer Olympic Games. He created history at the World University Games concluded in July 2019 in Italy. She became the first woman to win the gold medal in the women’s track and field events there. Duti Chand won the race by taking 11.32 seconds in the 100 meter race. In 2016, he was appointed Assistant Manager at Odisha Mining Corporation. For the first time in 2012, Duti came to the eyes, when she set a new record with winning 100 meters in the Under-18 National Championships.
In 2013, in 2013, the Odisha runner won bronze medal in the 200m event of the Asian Athletics Championship held in Pune and won 100m and 200 meters of National Senior Athletics Championships. The 2016 Asian Indoor Athletics Championships won bronze in the 60m category of Doha with a new national record. After this, the 100 meter event of G. Kosanov Memorial Competition in Kazakhstan qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics. Although the Indian runner could not go beyond the heat stage in Rio, the 2018 Asian Games won two silver medals in Jakarta.
Duti Chand’s silver medal in the Asiad’s 100 meter race was the first medal for India during the last two decades, then P.T. Usha won silver. Three days later, Duti Chand won the silver in 200 meters and made a pair. Duti at the 2019 Summer Universiad in Napoli won the gold medal in the 100 meter race and became the first Indian woman runner to top the podium of any international level athletic championship.
