Premnath had left the army and fled to Mayanagari.
Premnath was born on 21 November 1926 in Peshawar. Premnath’s full name was Prem Nath Malhotra. After partition, his family settled in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India. Prem Nath was fond of acting since childhood and wanted to make his career in the world of films. His father was a police officer, so he wanted his son to serve the country and for this he got him recruited in the army. Following his father’s advice, Prem Nath started taking army training, but his heart was in acting. In such a situation, he wrote a letter to his father on the pretext of buying a gun and asked for 100 rupees, his father also sent the money, with which Prem Nath went to Mumbai. He was a big fan of Prithviraj Kapoor and often wrote letters to him asking for an acting opportunity.

This is how I got work in films
After reaching Mumbai, he met Prithviraj Kapoor and requested him to make him his disciple and also asked for work in Prithvi Theatre, after which Prithviraj Kapoor admitted him to the theatre, where he became friends with Raj Kapoor and their friendship blossomed. Although Prem Nath had come to the world of films to become a hero, but his dream was not fulfilled, rather he got recognition as a villain in the industry. Actually, Prem Nath made his Bollywood debut with ‘Ajit’, one of the first colorful films of Hindi cinema. This film could not show anything special, but Prem Nath came into the public eye with his acting. Then Prem Nath worked with Raj Kapoor in films like ‘Aag’ and ‘Barsaat’, which gave him success.

Found love on film set
During the shooting of the film ‘Aurat’ in 1953, he fell in love with actress Bina Rai and married her. On one hand he was climbing the pinnacle of success, on the other hand Prem Nath could not make himself successful as a hero. After some time, Prem Nath took a break from films and started living like a monk. However, after a few years he made a comeback and created a strong identity for himself as a villain. Prem Nath became so famous by playing negative characters that he started getting more fees than the hero and after that he never looked back, instead he opened his own production house and produced many films.

Along with acting, he also produced films. Prem Nath also had an understanding of the work behind the scenes, so along with his wife, he started a production company named PN Films. Many films were released under this banner, but most of them were flops. After this he focused his entire attention back on his acting career. His role in the 1975 film ‘Dharmatma’ became quite famous. In his film career, he worked in more than 250 films like Kalicharan, Sanyasi, Sagai, Shor, Badal, Dharma-Karma, Loafer, Dhan-Daulat and Beman, but due to poor health in the 80s, he retired from films. Due to which the 1985 film ‘Hum Dono’ became the last film of his life.

Tried his hand in politics also
Prem Nath also worked in the 1969 American film Canary. She also worked in the American TV show ‘Maya’ from 1967 to 1969. Along with this, he formed his own independent party, for the promotion of which he toured the entire country and gave many speeches in the interest of his party, but he did not like the deceitfulness of politics for long and within a few years he himself Away from political circles. He died on 3 November 1992. Even though Premnath is no more in this world today, the indelible mark of his acting will always remain in the hearts of people.
