When was Tata Motors started?
Tata Motors was started in the year 1945. During this time the name of the company was Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company. Later the name of this company was changed to Tata Motors. Earlier the company used to make train engines but later entered the automobile industry and started making passenger cars. The company first launched its first commercial vehicle in 1954. Apart from this, the company partnered with Mercedes-Benz but this venture lasted till 1969.
Tata Indica became the first car
This was the first indigenous car of Tata Motors. This car was designed and developed in India only. In 1998, Ratan Tata launched the first compact hatchback car Tata Indica. This car brought great success to Tata Motors. Let us tell you that this car was the first family car of Tata Motors. However, the company stopped the production of Tata Nano in the year 2019. This car gained a lot of popularity from 2009 to 2019, but by 2019, people started losing interest in this car. As a result, the company stopped production of this car.
