On this day, the idol of Ganpati will be installed and fast will be observed. Bappa’s farewell i.e. Ganesh Visarjan will take place on 17 September, Tuesday, on the day of Anant Chaturdashi. Important rules of Ganesh Chaturthi-
If you are observing Nirjal fast on Ganesh Chaturthi, then abstain from both food and water throughout the day. If you observe a fruit fast, then during this time you can consume fruits, dry fruits, milk, curd etc. If you have observed a fast, then take care of both physical and mental purity.

Do not let negative thoughts arise. Spend your time on this day in worship and chanting etc. Apart from this, do not consume tamasic things on Ganesh Chaturthi even by mistake. Apart from this, you should avoid consuming garlic and onion. If possible, eat simple and light food on this day. You can use rock salt in the fast of Ganesh Chaturthi.

If you install Ganesha idol in your house, then first offer the food prepared at home to Lord Ganesha and do not consume meat, alcohol, garlic and onion for the entire ten days. Avoid arguments and do not abuse anyone on this day.
