Geeta Dutt was born on 23 November 1930 in Faridpur (now Bangladesh). His real name was Geeta Ghosh Choudhary. Geeta had 10 brothers and sisters. Geeta’s family came to Mumbai in the year 1942. Geeta Dutt was very successful in her professional life and sang many great songs. Talking about her personal life, Geeta Dutt’s personal life has been quite blurry. Although she was married to famous film producer Guru Dutt, their story was no less than a tragic love story. Geeta Dutt first met Guru Dutt on the sets of the film Baaghi. Guru Dutt was a fan of Geeta’s cheerful nature and Geeta was also influenced by Guru Dutt’s direction. The love of both of them started blossoming. Geeta and Guru Dutt decided to get married, but Geeta’s family did not approve of this relationship. Despite this, both of them ignored the opposition of the family and got married simply on 26 May 1953.
After marriage, Geeta Dutt had three children – Tarun Dutt, Arun Dutt and Neena Dutt. After marriage, Guru Dutt became very busy in his work. He was not able to give time to Geeta and family. This affected his personal life. On the other hand, Geeta started taking care of her family and children, which started affecting her professional life. Then Waheeda Rehman entered Guru Dutt’s life. It was Guru Dutt who offered Waheeda Rehman the role in the film CID. After this she appeared in Guru Dutt’s film Pyaasa. This film was a hit. The closeness between the two started increasing. Troubled by the news of Guru Dutt and Waheeda Rehman’s affair, Geeta Dutt took her children to her parents’ house.
There were many fights between Guru Dutt and Geeta. However, Guru Dutt made another attempt to improve relations. He started a film for Geeta, but the fights escalated so much that the shooting of the film had to be stopped after two days. Both used to fight on the film sets. Later in the year 1964, Guru Dutt was found dead in a rented flat. It is said that he committed suicide by taking sleeping pills. According to media reports, after the death of Guru Dutt, Geeta started drinking heavily. Geeta Dutt also died in the year 1972 due to liver disease. His age at the time of death was only 42 years.
