Gippy Grewal was born on 2 January 1983 in Koom Kalan, a village near Ludhiana. After primary education, Gippy studied Hotel Management from Management College, Panchkula. Gippy has told in his interview that he was not very good in studies. He studied only so much that he could pass.
Gippy Grewal was fond of music since childhood, but there were no such facilities for music education in his village. After 12th, he started taking music lessons. In one of his interviews, Gippy said, ‘When I went to my music teacher, he said that your voice is very rough. You need to refine your sound. I tried to improve my voice, but I think it was because of my voice that I got a different identity.
