Gurujada Apparao (English: Gurajada Apparao, born: September 30, 1861 – death: November 30, 1915) was a famous national poet of modern Telugu language.
brief introduction
Apparao was born in a scholarly family in the Visakhapatnam region of Andhra Pradesh. His father Venkataramadas was a scholar of Sanskrit and Telugu and an expert in Vedanta and astrology. His initial education took place at home only. Sanskrit and philosophy were his favorite subjects in school. After working as a teacher for some time, he worked in the Vijayanagara state. Here he got the opportunity to do research on history and he wrote a book named ‘History of Kalinga’. Gurujada Apparao was a very powerful poet imbued with national sentiments. Many collections of his poems were published. He opposed caste discrimination, caste discrimination, etc. He did not believe in celibacy and idol worship of religion. Along with poetry, he also composed plays, stories and criticism. He used the language of common people in his works. Apparao also contributed in taking forward the wave of social reform that was created by the efforts of Veereshilingam.
