Gurudas Kamat (English: Gurudas Kamat, born- October 5, 1954, Ankola, Karnataka; death- August 22, 2018, New Delhi) was an Indian National Congress politician and a famous politician. He was made the Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology in the Cabinet of the Fifteenth Lok Sabha of the Government of India. Lok Sabha MP Gurudas Kamat was elected member of the eighth, tenth, twelfth and fifteenth Lok Sabha. He was considered close to the Nehru Gandhi family.
Gurudas Kamat was born on October 5, 1954 at a place called Ankola in Karnataka. His father’s name was Vasant Anandrao Kamat, who worked in an auto mobile company. Despite having no political background in the family, Gurudas Kamat made an important place in Indian politics. His stature in Congress was very high. Kamat met Mumbai’s R.A. Graduated from Poddar College. He started his career as an advocate. In 1972 he joined the National Students Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Congress, and in 1976 became the head of the Mumbai branch of the NSUI. At the age of 29, Congress nominated Gurudas Kamat to contest for the Mumbai North-East parliamentary seat, where he defeated Dr. Subramanian Swamy and Pramod Mahajan. In 1987, Gurudas Kamat became the head of the Indian Youth Congress. Congress had also given charge of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu to Gurudas Kamat. But in 2017, Kamat resigned from all posts. Gurudas Kamat was also an MP from North West Mumbai till 2014. He was made the Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology in the Cabinet of the 15th Lok Sabha of the Government of India.
